THE SSS STRAWBERRY STORY
In the heart of Bundaberg, Queensland, a dream took root, nurtured by the Dang family’s unwavering commitment to family, excellence, and people-first values.
Led by the second generation of the Dang family: Victor, Tam, Toan, Lily, Gina, Cindy, Trinity & Rena —SSS Strawberries has flourished into one of the largest strawberry growers in Australia. The ‘SSS’ brand stands for ‘Seven Successful Siblings’, with all seven siblings working together in various parts of the business and our Mum – Gem Nguyen who oversees the whole farm unit. From humble beginnings in Perth with just 5 acres, we’ve sown the seeds of success, cultivating over 300 acres and more than 4 million strawberry plants, becoming a cornerstone of the region’s employment with over 350 dedicated staff during peak seasons.

Bundaberg’s Bounty
Our love for Bundaberg runs deep, from its pristine beaches to its lush farmlands, vibrant produce, and the warm embrace of the summer sun. We firmly believe that Bundaberg holds the potential to become one of Australia’s most popular regions, and we are committed to playing our part in making that vision a reality.
This region has welcomed us with open arms, and we are dedicated to giving back to the community that has embraced us.
Innovation in Adversity
SSS Strawberries has overcome numerous challenges on our journey, from our family’s journey to Australia from Vietnam to setbacks including labour shortages, economic fluctuations, and the global pandemic. Yet, our ability to innovate in the face of adversity sets us apart.
We’ve continually evolved, diversifying our offerings, investing in high-tech facilities, and even contributing to Bundaberg’s infrastructure, like the iconic SSS Tower. Our journey is not just about surviving challenges; it’s about thriving and making a lasting impact.
A Sustainable Future
Our commitment to sustainability and reducing food waste is at the core of our mission. Our state-of-the-art freeze-dried and frozen berry factory is a testament to this commitment.
We will recycle $600,000 worth of our second-grade strawberries into snacks and strawberry powder and freeze-dry other local produce, preventing it from ending up in landfills, with a total of 2 million kilos of produce processed annually. This isn’t just a business endeavour; it’s a step toward a more sustainable future for our region and beyond.
Community and Growth
As part of our commitment to the community, we’ve established the SSS Foundation, funding cataract surgeries for those less fortunate in Vietnam and supporting local charities, schools, and clubs in Bundaberg.
We’ve also expanded our product line, opening The Strawberry Shop in May 2023 and securing the IP to Happles, an additive-free Australian-made freeze-dried snack, available nationwide. It doesn’t stop there! With the opening of a new farm on Hollands Road (comprising of 210 acres)… our growth is not isolated; it’s intertwined with our community’s well-being and prosperity.

Looking Ahead
Our journey continues with exciting developments. We’re addressing Australia’s housing crisis with the largest unit development in Wide Bay, featuring 48 2 and 3 bedroom units. Additionally, we’re transforming a 7-storey office tower into a first-class 4+ star hotel, the most significant development in Bundaberg CBD in 30 years.
These projects complement our launch of the largest commercial high-tech freeze-dried and frozen berries factory, expanding our global reach and promoting sustainability.
As we grow, we remain dedicated to our values, our family, and the Bundaberg community.
