Did you know that each tray of strawberries (the green trays in the video) is graded into

1. First grade (fruit that will end up in the stores)
2. Second second (This could be bruised, not pretty, or the right size). Fantastic for making Jams or freezes to make smoothies.

While it gets graded, the fruit is also sorted into sizes (S M, L), packed, and punnets are scaled before it gets sent down the conveyor belt for another round of quality control. Here, it gets checked to ensure each punnet is packed correctly, in size, weight, and grade. Then it gets packed into boxes to be delivered to the stores.

We would like to take a moment, to share one of the reason why SSS have made it this far. Our values within the family, family first. With all the late nights, unpredictable weather, car napping, 2 minute noodles, showerless night (yes, that's right 🙈), we are so happy to see the kids happy and healthy. So here seeing Ruby Rose, showing up the way she does is the icing on the cake to this wonderful celebration.

Ruby Rose represented SSS Strawberries at @familybusinessaustralia 2023. We are such proud uncles, aunties, and parents to see what an incredible daughter, and niece she has been over the years to grow into the inspiring person she is for her younger brother, cousins, and now, with such vows, a contributing member to a place we call home, Australia.

Not only are these strawberry muffins extremely ta

Not only are these strawberry muffins extremely tasty, they are also low calorie (each muffin is 83 calories), gluten free and high in protien and fiber!

Ingredients
2 cups Rolled Oats
1 cup Greek yogurt
2 egg whites
1/3 cup coconut sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup strawberries roughly chopped
1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions
Preheat 200 C. Prepare muffin tin with liners or spray with nonstick cooking spray.

Place all ingredients in food processor except strawberries. Blend until oats are smooth. Pour into a bowl and gently fold in strawberries. Then transfer to the prepared muffin tin.

Bake 22-25 minutes until a toothpick can be removed smooth. Cool in the pan 5 minutes before removing.

How good is your strawberry knowledge?

This is, without a doubt, the best strawberry ice

This is, without a doubt, the best strawberry ice cream recipe available. It's rich and creamy, with a strong strawberry flavour. You're going to like this classic summer treat!

INGREDIENTS
• 4 cups finely chopped strawberries (see notes)
• 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, divided
• 4 egg yolks
• 1 cup whole milk
• 1/4 cup refined coconut oil
• 1 teaspoon pure vanilla
• A pinch of sea salt
• 1 cup whipping cream
• Optional, but recommended: 2 tablespoons vodka

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Place the strawberries and 3/4 cup sugar in a medium-sized pot over high heat and bring it to a boil. Once it boils, give the pot a stir and reduce the heat to a simmer for 5 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool slightly. Pour about half the strawberries into a blender and blend on high until smooth. Add the pureed and chopped strawberries into a bowl together and place them in your fridge to cool.
2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the remaining 1/2 cup sugar.
3. Heat the whole milk and coconut oil in a small pot over medium-high heat until steam rises from the pot. Add the vanilla and pinch of sea salt. Whisk some of the hot milk into the egg yolks to temper them, then add the egg yolks to the pot of hot milk. Place the pot over medium heat and, whisking constantly but slowly, bring the milk almost to a boil. You want the custard to thicken to the point where it will coat the back of a spoon.
4. Pour the custard into a bowl through a fine mesh sieve Make sure to use a sieve to filter out any little bits of cooked egg. Add the whipping cream, strawberries, and vodka to the bowl and whisk together well. Place the bowl into your fridge to let it cool completely, at least 4 hours.
5. Once the strawberry ice cream custard is completely cold, process it in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's directions. Transfer the strawberry ice cream to a freezer-proof dish and cover the top with parchment paper directly on the ice cream. Freeze until firm.

Ingredients:
1 can (46 ounces) pineapple juice, chilled
2-1/4 cups water
3/4 cup thawed pink lemonade concentrate
3/4 cup sugar
1 quart strawberry ice cream
2-1/2 quarts ginger ale, chilled
1 Pint Fresh Strawberries

Directions:
In a punch bowl, combine the first four ingredients.
Add ice cream; stir gently.
Add ginger ale; stir gently.
Cut Fresh Strawberries and add to punch.
1-quart strawberry ice cream

Nutritional Facts
1 serving (1/2 cup) equals 74 calories.

PYO - Pick Your Own strawberries will commence in

PYO - Pick Your Own strawberries will commence in Mid-August to end of November.

PYO is a wonderful way to get together with friends and family for some fun in the sun. This thrilling adventure is unlike any other. Get into the field with your feet in the dirt and your hands in the green plants. Pick the berries that look the finest to you. Choose the sizes and flavours that appeal to you.

To retain the freshness and minimise losses, our experts will have a training session with you on WHAT to select and HOW to pick. You are left on your own after the training and you determine how long you want to stay.

There is no admission fee. We will charge you per kilogram for whatever you want to take home.

Tips on planting strawberries • When purchasing

Tips on planting strawberries
• When purchasing new plants, be careful of the plant's health and look for signs of harm.
• Make sure the crown appears to be in good shape.
• When planting strawberries, keep each plant about a foot/0.3m apart from the next.
• Before placing the plants in the bed, make sure it is well watered. This will help to push out any air gaps, resulting in stronger plant growth.
• Make sure your planting hole is deep enough to suit the roots comfortably. Remember to rotate the plant so that the crown is level with the soil.

When harvesting strawberries from the field, make sure to remove any sick or diseased fruits, as this could spread disease to other fruits. It's important to take good care of strawberries after they've been planted. Keep them well-watered and spray them with fish emulsion or liquid fertilisers on occasion.

Plant strawberries if you want to add some fruits to your garden while also beautifying it. This plant is easy to grow with a little preparation and care, and it will pay off generously in the form of fruits and aesthetic value.

Strawberries can be grown almost anywhere. Strawberries may also be planted in hanging baskets, window boxes, and patio containers. Decide how many plants you need, based on the size of your family before you begin planting preparations. For daily strawberry needs, a small family might get by with around 25 plants. You should expect to pay between $8 and $10 for a package of 25 plants.

Strawberries are usually sold in 25-plant packets. Obtain one of these bundles and begin the process of strawberry planting. It is preferable to purchase your plants from a reputable nursery or grower, as you will be assured of a healthy plant, a fair price, planting instructions, and valuable advice on which variety will thrive in your environment. Rather than growing exotic varieties that might not yield well, it is always better to grow a variety that fits your location and environment.

There are basically three types of strawberries, these are:
– Musk strawberries
– Single crop plants, which bear fruit and ripen rather quickly (within few weeks)
– The day-neutral types which yield fruit all summer.

Prepare a double row about 8 meters long and 1 meter wide for about 25 plants; this will provide enough room for the plants to expand. It is more convenient to keep the row narrow because it helps you to reach between the plants when picking the fruit. Since strawberries are normally planted in the early spring, it's best to start preparing the bed in autumn. Make a raised bed to solve drainage issues, preferably in an area with plenty of sunshine.

Strawberry season is approaching, which means the strawberry shop will reopen in early May. SSS welcomes you to a newly revamped shop where you can buy fresh 100% ripe strawberries, hot foods, and cold beverages. From May to November.

We are open every day from 7 AM to 5 PM (even on public holidays).

Customers will be able to take home some of the best strawberries picked and sorted by our expert. Our experts are meticulous in their selection of the finest fruits, with the sole purpose of providing the best strawberries to our customers, ripe to full sweetness and ready to eat right away. This range is based on years of experience, ensuring that our guests always get the best-tasting strawberries.

In what the Queensland Strawberry Growers Association (QSGA) is describing as an industry first, people who work in the state's strawberry fields in the coming harvest will get the chance to win 10 individual prizes of up to $100,000 each.

Work on our farm during the peak harvesting time from June to October and earn entry points into the competition based on how many weeks you pick. At season's end a computer will randomly pick the names of 10 pickers who will then get the chance to play for up to $100,000 in cash

SSS developed their own 'SSS Village' for staff accommodation - complete with a basketball court! Including a fully equipped lunch hall on site for all the staff to enjoy.

How good is your strawberry knowledge? Let us test it out, let us know if you were aware of these facts already:

1. Strawberries are the first fruit to ripen each spring!
2. Strawberries are the only fruit that has its seeds outside, almost 200 of them!
3. Strawberries are not berries, like blueberries since their seeds are inside. Technically, each seed on a strawberry is a separate fruit!
4. Strawberries are a member of the rose family. If you spot a strawberry bush, they will smell as sweet as they taste.
5. Strawberries are grown in all states in Australia EXCEPT for ACT and NT.
6. Production is concentrated in the Sunshine Coast area of Queensland, and the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, with other production areas in Wannaroo, Bullsbrook and Albany in WA, the Adelaide Hills in SA, and Tasmania.
7. Strawberries are grown in Australia throughout the year, with production in subtropical regions from May to October, and in temperate regions from October to June.
8. The strawberry plant is a perennial. This means it may not bear fruit immediately, but once it does, it will remain productive for about five years.
9. The ancient Romans thought strawberries had medicinal powers and used them to treat everything from depression to kidney stones!
10. Strawberries help reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers.
11. Strawberries contain high levels of nitrate. Research suggests that people who load up on strawberries before exercising have greater endurance and burn more calories.

Have all adults and kids fill up their baskets with deliciously decorated strawberries and slip in a reward such as lunch with mum, quality time with brother/sister, picnic with the family, cooking dinner together, “yes” day (kids will love this!) – include rewards that can grow and strengthen your family instead of rewarding with toys and other tangible gifts. Easter is an excellent opportunity to connect with our loved ones again, because after the holidays we will immerse back into our busy lives and have little time to connect. Thus, use this opportunity and make plans, the ones they will commit too, and you will continue spending time together even after Easter is over!!

Now rush and hide the treats!! – once returned, take turns to give clues to other family members (no cheating – only clues to help!). Whoever has the most strawberries in their basket wins AND they get to swap their rewards with other team members if they wish!

Another tip: a good activity for parents, you can ask your kids to write intangible rewards and slip them into the baskets – this is a good way to understand what they may be needing right now and you all can connect and have a wonderful Easter holiday!

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love sweet treats? Now the world is not perfect, we cannot have chocolates all day, but we can have strawberries instead!

Strawberries are packed with superpowers - Not only is strawberry deliciously sweet; it is also rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. One serving of strawberries (100 grams) contains only 36 calories and provides a good amount of vitamin A, B1, B2, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and iron. In addition, fresh strawberries are a good source of vitamin C (approximately 64 mg per 100 grams). More than you think: 8 strawberries contain more vitamin C than 1 orange. Vitamin C contributes to healthy bones, teeth, and blood vessels.

We at SSS suggest replacing chocolate eggs with something else – chocolate covered strawberries! Below recipe is inspired by Easter choc dip strawberries - the Biting Truth:

Serves: 10-15 | Prep time: 60 mins
Ingredients
• 2 punnets strawberries
• 2 x 225g white chocolate melting buttons
• Red, yellow, blue and green food colouring
Method
1. Line a large baking tray with baking paper.
2. Fill a pot halfway with water and bring to the boil. Once water is boiling, reduce to medium heat and place another pot on top to create a double oiler.
3. Pour the white chocolate into the top pot and stir continuously as the chocolate is melting.
4. Once melted, evenly divide the chocolate into 4 bowls.
5. In each bowl, add food colouring and mix thoroughly.
6. Dip strawberries into chocolate and lay on the baking paper. Once all strawberries are covered, place the tray in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to set the chocolate.
7. Meanwhile, pour the leftover chocolate into 4 separate zip lock bags and seal leaving no air inside. Twist the zip lock bag to tightly push all contents into one corner (resembling a piping bag). Cut a small piece off the corner of the bag to ‘pipe’ the chocolate onto the strawberries.
8. Decorate the strawberries using the ‘piping bag’. Once all strawberries are decorated, return to the freezer for 10-15 minutes to set.
